The First Miles

At Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society, we know that the earliest stages of pregnancy can feel like standing at the start of a long road — full of questions, decisions, and moments that matter. The First Miles is about those beginnings, and about making sure no one has to navigate them alone.

Healthy Futures is FFAS’s pregnancy program designed to offer practical, compassionate support during pregnancy. The program brings together pregnancy support, cooking circles, and a pregnancy pantry — along with grocery vouchers and prenatal vitamins — all grounded in the belief that healthy outcomes are built through care, consistency, and connection.

Pregnancy support through Healthy Futures is flexible and person-centered. It focuses on listening first, answering questions, and helping individuals access the resources they need in ways that feel supportive, not overwhelming. There’s no single “right” way forward — just guidance that meets people where they are.

Our cooking circles create space to learn, share, and build confidence around food and nutrition during pregnancy. They’re practical, welcoming, and rooted in real life — recognizing that nourishment is about more than recipes. It’s about skills, comfort, and community.

The pregnancy pantry, grocery vouchers, and prenatal vitamins help ease everyday pressures by supporting access to nutritious food and essential items. By reducing financial and logistical stress, these supports allow people to focus more fully on their health, their pregnancy, and the road ahead.

The First Miles reminds us that strong beginnings aren’t about perfection. They’re about support that’s steady, respectful, and responsive — support that helps people take those first steps with confidence, clarity, and care.
